1- What is the sole trader status ?
It is a legal status that allows you to run you own activity and work for enterprises on a punctual basis
2- Can I start applying on the platform before taking the status ?
Of course! You can register at any point up until the 5th October in your business’s second tax year. A tax year starts on the 6th of April and ends on the 5th of April the year after. For example, if you work from April 2016 to April 2017, you need to register online before the 5th October 2017.
3- Do we need to become a sole trader ?
YES: it is mandatory to take the sole trader status to perform professional projects on Crème de la Crème. You start the application process as soon as you start applying on the platform
4- Do we have to pay to take it ?
NO: it's completely free to register as a self-employed sole trader, you only have to pay taxes on your earnings (explained here). Moreover, if you do have the status but do not make money, you won't have to pay a dime!
5- Is it a painful process to obtain the status ?
NO: just have a look on the following article: How to become a sole trader? It only takes 15 min and you will receive a confirmation letter with your Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR) that confirms your registration
6- Can you cumulate the sole trader status with another one?
YES if your employer doesn't forbid you: it's perfectly allowed to cumulate status (student, full-time job, internship, apprenticeship) if you employer/school doesn't state otherwise.
7- Can I take the sole trader status if I am not a UK citizen ?
