# Is it mandatory to have a bank account if I'm a micro-entrepreneur?

Legally yes, it's mandatory to have a bank account if you are a micro-entrepreneur. Officially, you have 1 year to open one after you start your business. 
 
|| Warning: All you need is a standard bank account. You don't need a company bank account 😉 

You don't have to pay anything to open one. The idea is to keep your freelancer income separate from your regular banking activities in case you're inspected. And most importantly, you don't get lost in your accounting.
